This scheme of work, adapted to meet the needs of the Locally Agreed Syllabuses for RE at that time, provides a framework on which schools can construct their own RE curriculum. Syllabuses from 2022 onwards are better served by the 2023 Scheme of Work. Schools should choose the units that cover the faiths as recommended by their Locally Agreed Syllabus.
There are at least 6 units per year group from Year 1 through to Year 6. Christianity is covered in every year group and there are units exploring the Hindu, Muslim, Jewish and Sikh faiths, as well as opportunities to touch on other worldviews. Every unit has a suggested enquiry question, outcomes and resource links as well as suggested learning activities. Additional or alternative activities should be included as required to make the learning appropriate for each context.
